Week 4 of skiing. It was a nice day, sunny, not windy, probably the warmest it's been so far. Of course I forgot my sunglasses and found the whiteness too much at times. Gotta complain about something, the cold, the wind or even the sun. LOL
Tristan is still in the beginner area, I think he had a breakthrough with his stopping and turning today. I hope he'll get to try one of the larger lifts and slopes next time.

I didn't get to see much of what Colin did today. He was wayyyyy up the mountain a lot of the time.

His first ever ride on a chair lift. These pictures aren't great but I had to try and capture the moment. Colin is in the light green and gray jacket and blue snowpants.

They get on the chair lift one instructor per each kid just in case any kids had trouble.

Up they go, Colin's in the middle.

Higher and Higher

Colin said the chair lift was fun and kinda creepy!

I couldn't go up with him so only got pictures of the bottom of his runs. Seems like he did great though! He is hooked and loves, loves, loves skiing!
Colin was happy that he got to use ski poles this week.

The boys were very tired by the time we went home!

Jodi, it sure looks like the boys are doing great! What a wonderful experience for them.
I love that last photo! ;-)
Thanks for the info (previous blog). I want to check it out.
Seems you have great fun skiing! What a way to start the year. (I skied when I was an American Field Service student in Montana 40 years ago - loved it!)
Your World Geography Year sounds very interesting. Remember us when you get to South Africa! We live in very interesting times here!
Tammy and I have also done quite a bit of geography and history, starting with where we live, street maps etc and the map of South Africa, but I find that we also get a lot of geography done as things happen in the world e.g. the Australia Open Tennis right now, the Gaza strip and the cholera in Zimbabwe. We check the headlines every day and she loves being able to understand some and talk to her Dad about it. Today we have also checked out New Mexico (High School Musical sight) and the North Pole. (Of course we do not go into it in depth, but for a "mentally handicapped child" Tammy has a pretty good idea of where what is where in the world and what is happening.)
Your sons seem to be enjoying winter!
The boys do love skiing and now have a reason to like winter. LOl I haven't corrupted all my children against winter. LOLOL
My Miekie, we will be sure to remember you and Tammy when we get to South Africa in our plan. It must be a very different sort of place to live. We have studied Africa before and that is one of our favorite coountries but then I realize that all the different parts of Africa are unique and maybe not even like each other. I only hope we do that large continent justice when we get to that point in our world studies.
Lisa, I love the last photo so much. I will likely order a larger print of it.
