A very rough outline but it's a start. Things I know I want are Language arts that is all in one, math from CLE for younger three and lots of visuals for Trevor's algebra. To study world geography, which we had planned to do this year but we're studying both US and world history instead. I feel earth and space science goes along with a geography study wonderfully well and could do that for all the kids, I keep wanting to try RS4K too though. We could use two sciences. I'm not sure if we're going to like CLE language arts even though their math is a good fit for us, so I will investigate Galore park English. It's an all in one and it would be fun to have a British made course in our line up.

Jodi...Language Arts/Galore Park. Where can I learn more about it? I've seen Dorothy speak of Galore Park. What are it's strengths? I have a couple of students who don't like language arts/writing. I love the way you teach...we're similar. Any thoughts?

I looked at samples a few times at the link Dorothy sent through SHS. www.galorepark.co.uk. It would be a leap of faith to try it as I know of nowhere to see a full copy of any of the books. www.amazon.ca has some of the galore park materials and the shipping may be better doing it that way. I haven't fully researched yet.
To me, from the samples I've seen the strengths are;
all in one language arts;
jokey writing in some of the text=appealing to children who don't love LA.
British examples in the text, ie: would you like mashed potatoes or chips with your dinner? I think it would be fun for my kids to have a British book in their curriculum because their daddy is British.
I haven't ever seen anything beyond the sample pages and table of contents at Galore Park though so in essence it will be an impulse buy if I decide to try this.
That's a great start! I always like to start early. It helps me think about how our year is going and what I'd like to see happen in the next year.
GP is excellent! It's been a life-saver for us as we transitioned from a relaxed Sonlight approach (no grammar) to more adult examination couses. I love the layout, not too much on each page, some colour, not too busy. Their books have worked for Grace AND Jack, which is a minor miracle.
This sounds like a great start to your yearly planning! I've been in that mode, too. I spent the last few days sorting materials. As much as I want to buy Sonlight again this year I just have too many resources to feel like I would be spending money wisely. And, I don't want to sell them yet so I think I'm planning her units again this coming year. :)
Jodi - my boys love A Child's Geography. The first volume is all earth science (geography of the earth). It talks about minerals, volcanos, atmopshere, tides, etc. You can see samples on their website (the first three chapters I think). We're using Volume 2 this year which is geography of the Holy Lands & it's excellent. Just wanted to toss that out there.
Lisa, thanks for the idea about A Child's Geography I wil check it out.
Dorothy I'm glad you mentioned Galore Park a few times on SHS and also glad to hear that it has worked well for both of your children who I assume have different learning styles. I realy like the looks of the English courses and feel almost sure I'll use GP for the kids language arts next year. A nice change and low cost.
Stephanie, I know what you mean about using what you've got. I did a lot of that this year and was glad that I did. If I still didn't manage to use something that's been sitting, or tried and didn't like it, this is the year I'll be letting it go by way of curriculum sales or give aways. LOL
What is CLE? Good luck with your plans. They sound interesting and challenging, but I am clueless about the subject codes.
CLE is Christian Light Education. Or see clp.org. Basically it is sets of ten wmall worktext which make up a year of a subject such as Math or language arts. We like their math. It's varied and fast moving.
