First day of Ski Lessons

The big day is finally here. Colin and Tristan started ski lessons! They've been anticipating this day for a couple months. The day lived up to their expectations and they can't wait to go back to the mountain and ski again!

First stop, getting fitted for ski's and boots.

Ready and waiting for the rest of our group.

The red level, where beginners start. Only one other child from our group was in this level. Made it nice to have a small group and plenty of attention.

The first part of the lesson was making A's and H's with ski's so they know how to stop and go.

Next they head up the easiest lift, the little magic carpet.

First trip down the hill.

Tristan falls

and can't figure out how to get up

Someone helps him learn how to get up

Here comes Colin on his first run and Tristan is up again.

Near the bottom

and up they go again. Tristan fell getting on the lift the first half dozen times until he finally got it.

It is starting to snow heavily at this point and I am FREEZING!

Colin and Tristan continue to have fun and ski for a couple hours after their lesson.

They go faster each time down the hill.

Both boys loved skiing and can't wait to go back! Colin was seen trying to climb the mountain higher than the magic carpet and tow rope lifts could go. He loves it already and wants to go higher...faster!

Tristan liked getting a lift on a truck between the beginners area and the lodge.

Hot chocolate for cold kids!

Rosy cheeks and very happy.

Tristan is very tired by the time we head home. Hayley gave him a lift for the last little bit of the walk.

Look at Colin's rosy cheeks! They don't get poles when they start to learn?

They don't get poles when first learning anymore. The instructor said poles just get in the way. They could have had them if we wanted but the recomendation is to learn without poles. I took their word for it not being a winter sporty type of person. LOL

This brings back memories of trying to learn to ski in MT. The kids all mastered the learning slop - I never COULD master the "magic carpet" and I took out lines of kidlets every time I tried to stop..... Never went skiing in Alaksa....sent the kids and stayed at home with the hot chocolate and babies. LOL

The boys look so excited and adorable - but don't tell them I said that. LOL
