Brussel sprouts and greens, last garden hold outs of the season

Our milder than usual start to winter has allowed many crops to continue growing well. I hoped to use my own Brussel sprouts for our day after Christmas dinner at home and was able to pick them not long before we ate them.  Also picked and cooked some assorted late kale and greens. I do wonder if this very late starting winter has affected the garlic, won't know until next summer.

One of seven Brussel sprout plants that I grew.

Hopefully I will grow a larger crop of Brussel sprouts next year.

Stormy helps in the winter garden.

I think this is larger than fall planted garlic should have gotten before winter sets in.

Felix didn't help harvest the late crops, he stayed indoors all cozy.

Harvest time

Regularly harvesting all sorts of organic vegetable goodies which I grew myself. Gardening is not a passion for me as it is for some but it';s growing on me (haha) and harvest time is very rewarding. Some of my best crops this year were heirloom colorful carrots, probably got close to 10 pounds total, potatoes-grew almost 100 pounds of them, spaghetti squash, grew about 14, 2 of which were HUGE and of course beans and peas which are always prolific.

Corn crop

I didn't do so well with my corn crop, although what did grow was tasty.

Today's garden harvest

I decided to dig up the potatoes in just one of the large tubs today. About 3 pounds of red potatoes had grown.

Continuing to harvest lots and lots of beans each week and sometimes each day!

Potato Farmer

Felix the cat helps me plant a small potato field. I guess that makes us potato farmers.

Yes, your spacing is fine, carry on. (What I think Felix is saying).

babies everywhere

We had torrential rains last night, that seemed to help everything grow at hyper speed. Plants are much bigger today, small tomatoes and peppers have suddenly blossomed and tons of baby tadpoles hatched in our pond!

Garden update

The gardens are growing well. before too long we'll have a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits. So far from the garden we've had a few strawberries, a little lettuce and some chard. A lot more is growing, and growing well this year. getting an early start on planting doesn't always pay off, depending on weather, this year it seems to have worked well to plant early.

Gardens are Growing!

We have all sorts of good vegetables and fruits growing now. Just about everything is planted, kids gardens, upper gardens, lower garden and container gardens. It seems we have a good start, I hope a lot of great food will be the result.

Doesn't this look funny? I need to get more fencing. This silliness is to keep out the wildlife, and our own bunny who was eating things in the gardens.
