When my younger boys moved from Cub Scouts up to Boy Scouts they wanted to work on some of the animal related merit badges. We found out that our troop didn't have merit badge counselors for most of those badges so I volunteered to take on those badges. Recently we started the Reptile and Amphibian study badge. I arranged a field trip to Dave's Dragons, a really cool pet shop that specializes in reptiles and amphibians. They gave a greatr talk t over a dozen of our scouts and helped them cover around half of the merit badge. Photos below.
