Heading to Plimoth and back in time to the 1600's.....
Through Boston again and the mysterious big buildings and funky bridges and tunnels.
We were so happy to see these road signs after over 3 hours on the road!
And here we are!
An introductory movie
something to eat...
Then into the land of the Wampanoag Indians and British Colonists.
The actors told tales of their lives and you can ask them questions.
Tristan and Colin played with Colonial children.
many things to do in the homes and on the property
The Colonists welcomed help with chores. This Man at the wood area said they would have Colin chopping wood every day he was so good at it! He should be this is one of his chores at home, just with a more modern tool!
Tristan helped "Governor Bradford's sister in law" to start a fire.
There was an area to play with old fashioned toys and also a movie and series os rooms about the history of Thanksgiving.
At the end of the day we noticed this MOOFLOWER.
Then down the road a couple miles to the real Mayflower, this one doesn't have a cow! Actually it's a reproduction and is called the Mayflower 2.
Where is that Plymouth Rock?
Way down there where nobody can chip peieces off it as was happening in the past.
Myth, legend, a bit of truth to it? Who knows for sure but this is Plymouth Rock.

It looks like a wonderfully full & fun day. I really wish we could have made it as well. I so want to get down there at some point with the boys. I haven't been since I was about 6 or so. I have very vague memories of it all.
It was better than I expected. I had been there as a child too but varely remember it. My children want to go back and I quote: "not for at least a year because that was a very long drive!" end quote! They have homeschool days a few times a year with extra activities. Maybe next time we'll try to go during one of those.
What awesome fun, Jodi! I see you have your homeschool planning done too. We start back next week, and we're trying to finish up last minute summer home improvement jobs this week. Unfortunately the heat index is 106 degrees. : (
Thanks for sharing your trip. It was fun to see the pictures.
We LOVED our visit to Plimouth a few years ago! We stayed the night and went on the best ever walking tour -a lantern tour around town led by a local ps teacher who gave a fabulous talk!
Thanks for that, Jodi! That was a fun day out for me! I live vicariously through others' blogs! {g}
What a fantastic day!!!
(still catching up!) :)
